South Whittier District Settles Teacher Contract

Summary


The South Whittier School District has reached a contract agreement with its teachers that calls for a pay cut of nearly 11 percent this year, as well as a suspension of annual "step and column" salary increases and bilingual stipends.

Superintendent Erich Kwek said in these tight financial times, pay cuts were inevitable in order to keep the district's books balanced.
