Changing from gasoline- and diesel-powered automobiles to ones powered by batteries, compressed natural gas or hydrogen will take more than the unveiling of a prototype. It will take billions of dollars in further research and development, in new fueling stations and, most importantly, a commitment to doing things differently.
Likewise, changing from filling up our local canyons with trash to relying on a remote, modern landfill system will take extra dollars to transport waste by train over many more miles. And it will take a commitment from the cities of Los Angeles County that proposed the changeover more than 20 years ago: an agreement to send their trash.See the full content of this document
