A political party is only as good as the principles it espouses. And if it doesn't live up to those ideals, it's no good at all.

So, who's afraid of a little friendly competition? It turns out some Republicans are. Fifty years ago, Democrat John Kennedy implored Americans: "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." Today, the Republican message is more like: "Do as we say, not as we do."
