Results Mixed for Schools in Valley

Summary


A majority of incoming juniors have passed the California High School Exit Exam needed to graduate in June 2006, but high school education overall is "unacceptably' low, the state's superintendent of public instruction said Monday. The California Department of Education released results of two important state tests the California High School Exit Exam taken by all 10th-graders last spring and the Standardized Testing and Reporting Program.

The latter measures the proficiency level of grades two through 11 in academic standards set by the state and will be incorporated into another set of results to be released at the end of the month.
