Summary
Alaska's Tongass National Forest is the world's largest temperate rainforest. It is home to grizzly bears, bald eagles, wolves, salmon and thousands of other species. This land a federal forest on public land belongs to us as citizens.
The Tongass contains some of the last remaining old-growth timber. Ninety-seven percent of all original-growth timber in the 50 United States has been cut at one time or another! The Tongass contains trees 1,000 years old reaching heights of nearly 200 feet.See the full content of this document
