Summary
Thank you, Aram Tolegian (column of March 25). I am a parent of two graduates from Bishop Amat. The younger one, Adam Simon, was a player on the baseball team that garnered back-to-back CIF championships in '01 and '02. Where were you then? Your article is so on target. It seems there will always be those adults who for whatever reason cannot allow certain schools the joy of competitive victory. There were countless times that individuals made a point to express their opinions regarding the "fairness" of recruitment, private vs. public, etc., when our baseball team was winning and nationally ranked. In most cases, the expression usually ended with, "Well, Amat should win. They have an unfair advantage over everyone else." In subsequent seasons, those same critics have been the first to ask, "What happened to the baseball dynasty?" I fully agree with every point you made in the article and I am grateful you took the time and ink to express your opinion.
