7.6-Magnitude Quake Could Hit the Valley

Summary


An earthquake similar to the magnitude-7.6 temblor that devastated parts of Pakistan and India could happen some day in the Southland, but with less structural damage, a seismologist said Mon day.

"Geologically, we have a very similar structure here in the San Gabriel mountains and Valley,' said Lucy Jones of the U.S. Geological Survey.
