Letter to the Editor: Be Informed

Summary

It is painfully obvious that we as a country are truly turning our beautiful nation upside-down. I read the opinion pages and often I find myself shaking my head in sadness. Many people have very strong opinions, but they sound very similar to news sound bites and political talking points. They rarely appear to come from independently researching the facts or from the standpoint of what is best for all of America or from the strength of personal responsibility, which is one of the great reasons our country has been successful and is unique.

When we have a teacher in New Jersey teaching her students a chant about "Barack Hussein Obama" as though he is lord and king of kings, we have lost sight of who we are. She also has taught them a praise song for the president to the tune of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." Also, we have billboards and stickers with the likeness of Mr. Obama and the word "Hope" underneath, plastered everywhere. I am trying to understand. We cannot sing Christmas songs or say a prayer of hope and gratitude and protection in our schools but we can teach them to "worship" a man and put their "hope" in one imperfect, human man?
