Summary
I know that local Assemblyman Mike Eng means well, in his legislative effort to improve the "accuracy" of California's smog checks/smog check stations.
But a much better idea than his bill would involve using California's massive and current smog check database (I assume there is one) of all smog checks done in California within the last 15 years or so, from which info about vehicle types and engines could be drawn, along with the rate of pass or failure of those vehicles. One could also interview honest smog check techs for their opinions, too.See the full content of this document
