As a teacher in the Whittier City School District, I disagree vehemently with the letter written by Maria and Mario Lopez regarding a need for change in our school board. Our schools do not need change for the sake of change. It's irresponsible to make that assessment when schools need stability - not more turmoil.

For over a decade, I have taught in Whittier. I have seen and lived through a myriad of problems within our district. I, too, wondered about the direction of our school district. Four years ago, I may have agreed with the letter writers as I was one of many teachers who stood on the streets with signs asking our school board to listen to our concerns. And you know what, they did. They set a new tone for our district by seeking new leadership.
