Summary


Kranz Intermediate School will become a hot spot for community and school recreation activities, local officials said, thanks to recent news the city has won $2 million in grants from the largest bond measure in California history.

The money, distributed through the state's Proposition 40 funds, makes El Monte the top winner for the statewide grants. Officials plan to use the awards toward projects for its Healthy Communities and recreation-development campaigns, said Tom Hatch, deputy city manager for community services.
