ACCORDING to my superficial knowledge of Biblical history, God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses at Mt. Sinai to present to the Jewish people as part of their covenant with him. Some scholars say the Commandments were give before the time of Moses, but nobody is certain of even their approximate date.

Jews were later expected to reveal these laws to other people. When the commandments took root, the seeds of civilization were planted.
