LOS ANGELES - Superior Court Judge David Yaffe today granted an injunction against two Monrovia gangs, a move celebrated by local officials as a key step toward curbing gang violence in the city.

The city jointly filed a request for an injunction with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office seeking to limit the activities of two local gangs: the Duroc Crips, a black gang, and Monrovia Nuevo Varrio, a Latino gang.The judge denied a request by three alleged members of the Duroc Crips gang who appeared in court Friday and asked to be excluded from the injunction, which also names the Monrovia Nuevo Varrio gang.
