Summary


RECENTLY House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed that the CIA misled Congress when it came to the use of water boarding and other harsh interrogation techniques. The new CIA chief, Leon Panetta, indignantly assured the world that the CIA was not in the business of torture.

Meanwhile, there were many photos that suggested torture was committed at the U.S.-run Abu Ghraib prison, and that the torturers did not act alone. While Donald Rumsfeld claimed that we were dealing with just a few bad apples, it turned out that he was one of them. After all, where did the snarling dogs, the wires, the black hoods and the dog leashes come from? They were obviously not standard equipment.
