Summary


Jan. 14, 2007 is the day that forever changed my life and the lives of family and friends who loved Tyra Lynn Campbell. It was that day she became the victim of a "silent killer." Legislation that will soon go before the governor will help prevent more senseless deaths like Tyra Lynn's. I and others urge him to sign SB 183 into law.

When Tyra returned home that winter night after a day of shopping, she called her family to let them know she made it home safely, turned on the heater, and laid on the couch to watch her favorite television show. Tyra fell asleep on the couch, never to wake up again. Unfortunately, the life a dynamic young woman was snuffed out all because carbon monoxide (CO), known as the "silent killer," was lurking in her home. If only I knew then what I know now, a $20 CO detector would have saved her life.
