Group Two: Would You Approve of a Longer School Day?

Summary

Kelly Haas - "If the school day is lengthened, the average student would not be able to join clubs, sports or volunteer. Students would not be able to take part in these great after-school activities because students would be too busy studying and preparing for the next school day. Unfortunately, students would not be able to participate and learn valuable life lessons that are experienced in after- school activities. Being involved with after-school programs makes students well-rounded.'

Allison Steen - "If we changed school to only four days a week, I would approve a longer school day. That way, we are in school the same amount of time a week, but we get an extra day to ourselves. We would have a three-day weekend instead of two, and we would still be learning the same amount. I would not want a longer school day if we had to go five days a week. I personally think we spend enough time in school as it is.'
