Tree Crashes Into Home, Boy Injured

WHITTIER - A 7-year-old boy suffered minor injuries Sunday night after high winds knocked a tree into his bedroom, according to police. The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. at 12711 Beverly Boulevard when a tree in a neighbor's backyard was forced into the home, authorities said.

Tree On Freeway Cleared

WEST COVINA - Traffic was backed up on the 10 Freeway for about 40 minutes this morning as crews worked to clear a fallen tree on the highway, officials said. The hazard was reported about 6:40 a.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway, near Vincent Avenue. It was cleared within the hour, California Highway Patrol Officers said.

Three Held in Attempted Robbery

PASADENA - Police have detained three men in connection with an attempted residential burglary this morning, officials said. The incident was reported just before 8 a.m. at a residential complex near Linda Vista Avenue, police said.

Weather Expected to Become Drier

LOS ANGELES COUNTY - After three days of heavy rainstorms, the National Weather Service says that besides some possible small rain drizzles or snow flurries, no further major rainstorms are expected. The storms brought a deluge of rain and snow to the San Gabriel Mountains and the valleys below.

Police Identify Robbery Suspects

PASADENA -- Police identified three Los Angeles men allegedly involved in a robbery attempt on the 1400 block of Pegfair Estates Drive at about 7:30 a.m., Pasadena Police officials said. Quincy Hanley, 21, Tarel Meeks, 24, and Rayvonta Haskins, 20 were stopped by police about 10 minutes after the incident while driving near the intersection of California Boulevard and St. John Avenue, Police Lt. Keith Jones said.

$25,000 Reward Could Be Renewed

WEST VALINDA - The $25,000 reward offered for information in the murder of a man killed while trying to stop tagging activity is expected to be renewed by county supervisors tomorrow. Robert Whitehead, 44, was shot dead outside his West Valinda home in March 2006 when he confronted alleged gang members who were tagging his neighbor's wall. A Sheriff's Department investigation into the incident led to the arrest of one suspect, and also broke open a murder conspiracy case by the Mexican Mafia.

House Fire Kills Pets

PASADENA -- Three cats were killed when a fire broke out inside of a Queensberry Road home Monday morning, Pasadena Fire officials said. The inside of the home was torched after a floor furnace set fire to a living room sofa, spreading into the walls, Fire spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said. Fire officials got the call at 9:15 a.m. and had the fire contained in about 20 minutes, she said.
