Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting

BALDWIN PARK - Police are investigating an incident involving a suspected shoplifter who shot and wounder after he pulled a gun on police at a Target parking lot on Tuesday. The shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. outside the Target at 3100 Baldwin Park Blvd., near Francisquito Avenue, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Edmundo Hummel.

Man to Appear in Court Today for Whittier Murder

WHITTIER - A preliminary hearing date is scheduled to today for Woody Hume, who is accused of running over a man in Santa Fe Springs. Hume, 28, of Buena Park is being charged with one count of murder in the death of Samuel Desrosiers, 24, of Buena Park, police said.

Six-Car Crash Sends Victims to Hospital

LA PUENTE - Ambulances are responding to a six-car crash at the 605 (San Gabriel River) and 60 (Pomona) freeways. The incident occured around 8:20 a.m.

Teenagers Arrested for Alleged Hate Crime, Armed Robbery

COVINA - Two teenaged girls were arrested Thursday on suspicion of armed robbery with a hate crime enhancement in the robbery of a woman's purse at knifepoint, officials said. The incident was reported about 6:30 p.m. on Vincent Avenue at Edna Place, said San Dimas sheriff's Sgt. Kirk Smith.

Suspect in Trash Can Killing Refuses to Talk to Investigators

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN, -- A man suspected of killing his girlfriend and dumping her body in a trash can in an Arcadia backyard refused Friday to speak to investigators regarding the case, authorities said. Isaac Campbell, 32, of San Gabriel, was apprehended Thursday afternoon in Minnesota in connection with the death of Liya "Jessie" Lu, 31.

Walnut Man Shot Dead

SAN BERNARDINO - A 26-year-old Walnut man was shot and killed inside an apartment complex late Thursday. San Bernardino police, who identified the victim as Mark Felipe, said the man was found lying on the sidewalk at a complex in the 2200 block of East Pumalo Street at 11:48 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Rosemead Hires Claremont Staffers

CLAREMONT - Two staff members at Claremont City Hall have signed on to work for the city of Rosemead, where former Claremont staff member Oliver Chi was recently named city manager. Matt Hawkesworth, Claremont's treasurer, has been hired as one of Rosemead's two assistant city managers. His last day in Claremont will be Oct. 5.

Sex Offender Arrested, Again

WEST COVINA - A known sex offender was arrested this week and is being charged with four felony counts. Steven Michael Conklin, a West Covina resident, was arrested Sept. 28. He is being held in Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles on a $1 million bail.

Teen Girls Arrested in Robbery, Hate Crime

COVINA - Police arrested two teenaged girls who allegedly robbed a woman at knifepoint and shouted racial slurs, officials said. The teenagers are charged with robbery and assault with a deadly weapon with a hate crime enhancement.

Woman Hit by Pickup Id'd

COVINA - Coroner's officials identified a woman who was struck and killed by a pickup truck Wednesday as 73-year-old Sarah Le Crone of Covina. The crash occurred about 6:15 a.m. on Barranca Avenue at San Bernardino Road, said Industry sheriff's officials.

Authorities Investigate Shooting in Baldwin Park

BALDWIN PARK - Sheriff's Homicide detectives were sent to investigate the scene of an officer involved shooting Thursday night in the parking lot of a Baldwin Park retail store. The incident occurred at 9:55 p.m. at the Target at 3100 Baldwin Park Boulevard, said Baldwin Park Police Sgt. Greg Keef.
