Man Robbed in Garage

WEST COVINA Police are seeking a man who robbed another man at gunpoint in front of his home late Wednesday, officials said. The victim, whose name was not available, had just arrived home about 10:15 p.m. and pulled his car into the garage of his condominium complex in the 1800 block of Borrego, said West Covina Police Lt. Dan Brooks.

Bear Visits Glendora Neighborhood

GLENDORA Residents in the 200 block of North Country Club Road hosted a visitor in their neighborhood late Wednesday in the form of a 250-pound bear. Sightings of the animal were reported just after 10 p.m., said Glendora police Lt. Ernie Didier.

Walnut Educator Named Teacher of the Year

Director Dismissed From Lawsuit Claiming Dogs Killed in Baldwin Park

LOS ANGELES - The director of the county Department of Animal Care and Control was dismissed today from a lawsuit alleging employees violated state law by destroying two dogs at the Baldwin Park shelter. The animals had been given up by their San Gabriel caretaker just hours before they were euthanized.

Dui Checkpoint in El Monte Today

EL MONTE - The El Monte Police Department is planning a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint today. The checkpoint will run from 2 p.m. to midnight, on Ramona Boulevard at the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, officials said.
